New York Jazz Singer
New York, Capital of Jazz
New York is the capital of Jazz. Musicians come from all over the USA and all over the world to learn where Jazz music comes from, why it is played the way it is. All the Jazz masters either live in NYC or a at least perform here. Years after years all those Jazz musicians from the 7 continents renew the Jazz scene from Harlem to The Village. Jazz musicians who are Native New Yorkers, guide the new-comers into the numerous Jazz networks. At the end the music as well as New York City benefit from the great variety and passion of all those unique Jazz musicians

Brasserie Juien’s unique Jazz sound
Brasserie Julien being a French restaurant in New York City is by its nature open to mixing different styles of music and musicians - that is why Brasserie Julien has its own “New York Jazz Sound”. At the same time, maybe more then other NYC music venues, Brasserie Julien’s music is always performed for the people with the people. Musicians-in-residence bring special guests from all different backgrounds and shows are hardly ever focused on one “genre” only. At Brasserie Julien, depending on who’s performing, you’ll hear Samba, Gypsie Jazz, Gospel, New Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Pop music and more. Also “our” New York musicians are of all generations. Often Jazz masters such as Gene Bertoncini would share with us their legendary talent and polished craft. And young performers like Harmonica player Yvonnick Prene would bring a whole new energy and excitement to our Jazz shows

New York Jazz musicians eclectic styles
Since 1999, Brasserie Julien had numerous amazing Jazz musicians. Some of them have become regular guest artists who perform concerts almost every week. Among them, guitarist Adam Rafferty was one of the first to play at Brasserie Julien. Whenever Adam is on at the restaurant, everybody knows that the music is going to be “Super-Groovy” and a fans come sit at the bar to check out his amazing technique. Another one is, guitarist Ron Jackson who literally knows all the songs in all styles and whose good humor and friendly attitude have made him one of Brasserie Julien’s favorite musicians. We also have to mention, the incredible Freddie Bryant - one of the most talented, creative, versatile and adventurous Jazz musicians who has ever performed at our venue. Each artist brings her/his own flavor to the shows: Floanne sings the French Song Book with an accordion player - Ayana Lowe brings Harlem’s Gospel music to us - Harmonica player/vocalist, Will Galison performs Jazz standards and Blues - Saxophonist Charles Davis offers the most beautiful “Tenor” sound ever and pure Be Bop lines. All those New York Jazz musicians make Brasserie Julien’s evenings rich, eclectic and fun!
