Brasserie Julien Music Classes
Take a private lesson or a collective class to learn how to play guitar, percussion, saxophone, flute or clarinet with New York professional musicians who play every weekend at Brasserie Julien. See them perform and execute what they are teaching. Ask your teacher how he played a certain line, chord or rhythm the night before. Sit-in with your teacher and learn “on the job!”
Music Teachers
We have the best music instructors in NYC – amazing musicians who have been performing at Brasserie Julien’s for years. Feel free to contact our teachers:
Different Music classes
Guitar, drums, saxophone, flute and clarinet students are offered to work “one-on-one”, or with a person of same level and interest. They also have the option to participate in a “section class” (with same instruments) or in a workshop (different instruments). The Drum Circle requires at least 3 participants. Each music instructor offers three different type of classes: beginner, intermediate and advance. Each lesson is personalized and its content depends on the student’s level, goals and interest. But whatever is the music you want to learn (Rock, Blues, Jazz, Latin…) we have it!
Buy or Rent Instruments
It is better for students to have with their own instruments. Nevertheless, some “introduction” classes can be attended without an instrument. Saxophones, flutes and clarinets can also be rented through one of our participant stores – contact our friend Andre at Sam Ash Music Store, 163 West 48th Street in Manhattan (212) 719-2625. Some Drum Circle sessions will also provide the percussion instruments needed.
The location
The Music Classes take place at restaurant/Jazz club Brasserie Julien on 3rd Ave and 81st Street, in Manhattan – right where our musicians/teachers get to perform every week. Classes can take place at other locations – see with your teacher.
Hours & length
Classes will most likely be scheduled in the day time, Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm, but not only. When purchasing a class, you can reserve a spot on our “Classes Calendar” or deal directly with the teacher.
Private lessons are usually 1 hour long and collective classes 2 hours. But other options are available depending on the instrument, level, age and type of class.
